Bio
David Sybert joined the UNC Coastal Studies Institute in May of 2009. Prior to this role, Dave served as an Educator at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island where he educated the general public, and worked as an Assistant Dive Safety Officer. He has also spent time working in Southern California as a Marine Science Instructor.

B.S. Environmental Studies, Elon University

Dave is responsible for coordinating K-12 programs at UNC CSI.  It is his goal to make the work of UNC CSI researchers and scientists relevant to middle and high school students.  Dave is interested in providing exciting, hands-on opportunities for students to experience science, math, engineering, art and technology outside of their classrooms.

Along with coordinating the K-12 program, he is also a member of the UNC-CSI Underwater Production Team and assists John McCord in sharing the work and mission of UNC CSI with interested parties.

Dave prefers to spend his time in or around the waters of the Outer Banks surfing, fishing or diving.
