Nautical Archaeology Society Initiative

 

The Nautical Archaeology Society Initiative is an opportunity for avocational archaeologists, maritime history enthusiasts, SCUBA divers and interested members of the general public to experience world class training from respected and accomplished instructors from the field of Nautical Archaeology. The UNC Coastal Studies Institute, in partnership with East Carolina University,  NOAA’s Monitor National Marine Sanctuary, and Roanoke Island Outfitters, provides classroom instruction and field experience on actual sites and archaeological material in North Carolina.

The license to teach NAS training in North Carolina is provided by the Nautical Archaeology Society, United Kingdom to East Carolina University and is under the direction of Dr. Nathan Richards, Ph.D., RPA and Dr. Lynn Harris, Ph.D., RPA.
