After a brief hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County (CYP)’s KidsFest has returned in 2021! This year’s iteration of the event, advertised as Kidsfest Adventure, will be a self-guided activity hunt taking place from May 7-17 all around the Outer Banks.

As in previous years, CSI is excited to participate in the fun by offering the “CSI Coastal Crawl”. KidsFest Adventurers will scan a QR code posted at the Research, Education & Administration Building on the ECU Outer Banks Campus to gain access to a secret webpage just for the event. The page includes a list of things to see and find on campus, along with brief descriptions, videos, and questions for discussion. A full virtual campus tour will also be available, and participants can choose a prize if they visit during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm).

Many other local organizations from Duck to Manteo to Buxton will also be offering activities. For the most up-to-date information and daily highlights, be sure to check the CYP Facebook page during the event. Finally, don’t forget to tag CYP and CSI on social media to share your fun with us!

Led by East Carolina University (ECU), The Coastal Studies Institute is a multi-institutional research and educational partnership of the UNC System including North Carolina State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC Wilmington, and Elizabeth City State University.
