Bio

Lauren has been with the Coastal Studies Institute Education and Outreach Team since 2022, first as a seasonal Outreach Associate instructing summer camps, then as a full-time educator supporting overall youth, K-12, and public education program development and implementation for CSI.

Having grown up on the Outer Banks, Lauren spends much of her free time on the beach. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and watching Carolina basketball.

Current Project(s)

As an Education Specialist, Lauren supports CSI’s broad education and outreach initiatives. She currently works closely with the North Carolina Renewable Ocean Energy Program and the Atlantic Marine Energy Center to engage diverse stakeholders about marine renewable energy and aid in the development of North Carolina’s Blue Economy through education, public engagement, and workforce development.

Led by East Carolina University (ECU), The Coastal Studies Institute is a multi-institutional research and educational partnership of the UNC System including North Carolina State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC Wilmington, and Elizabeth City State University.
